The booming worldwide merger trend is creating fierce competition for not only corporate deal lawyers but also antitrust specialists. That dynamic was written between the lines of the news that Rogers & Wells is planning a merger with London-based Clifford Chance. The union would produce a global titan: one of the world's largest law firms with more than 2,400 lawyers. Lawyers close to the deal say that Rogers & Wells' burgeoning antitrust practice was a key element drawing the two firms together.
