EEOC Lawsuit Says Supervisors Raped Female Workers at Iowa Egg Plants

Federal officials have filed a lawsuit alleging that Mexican women who worked as egg packers in Iowa were raped by supervisors who threatened to have them fired or killed if they didn't submit. The lawsuit filed Monday by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission accuses three former DeCoster Farms supervisors of raping the women last year and this past March.

Jury Finds for Wyeth in Suit Over Hormone Replacement Therapy

Drug maker Wyeth won the first of about 4,500 lawsuits over its hormone replacement drugs, Premarin and Prempro, last week when a federal jury rejected 67-year-old Linda Reeves' claim the drugs caused her breast cancer. During trial, Reeves acknowledged not reading information supplied with the drug and said she let her doctor decide whether it was appropriate for menopause symptoms. An attorney for Wyeth said the suit was an "excellent" sign for upcoming cases, a notion Reeves' lawyer disputed.

After six years of tumultuous litigation, a Pennsylvania federal jury has flatly rejected claims of race discrimination brought by the former director of Montgomery County's Housing Services Department who said he was fired for complaining of harsh discipline because he's black. Robert Wright was fired from his post in June 1996 after the county received a scathing HUD audit report.
