Repeat Securities Offender Gets 10 Years and Must Pay $5.5M in Restitution

A repeat securities offender has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison and must pay $5.5 million restitution under a plea agreement in a hedge fund fraud. According to a Securities and Exchange Commission complaint, Anthony F. Giordano solicited more than $4.5 million for a hedge fund offered by his investment firm from April 2001 to March 2002, but less than a quarter of the money was invested; Giordano converted about $1.5 million to his personal use.
