GOP Hammers 2nd Circuit Nominee on Death Penalty Case

Judge Robert Chatigny, nominated for the 2nd Circuit, faced withering questions Wednesday from Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee over his handling of the case of a notorious serial killer who committed murders in the 1980s. In 2005, Chatigny, as a federal district court judge, pushed so hard for a hearing to determine Michael Ross' mental competency that prosecutors filed an ethics complaint. Chatigny was cleared of any ethics violations, but the case has become an issue in his confirmation hearing for the circuit.
