Recounts Allowed Under Florida Law, Broward County Says

Two Florida counties and Florida's Secretary of State Katherine Harris raise differing arguments for why the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals should deny a petition to halt hand recounts of the presidential ballots. Volusia County's argument is succinct: The request to enjoin a manual recount there is moot. Harris says the state's laws are constitutional and should not permit a candidate to mine for votes.

Attorney Bruce Rich noted that several financial services firms sued the website because the company made a business of widely releasing their expensive-to-produce research findings before their clients could act on the information, diminishing the value of the research.
