Criminal cases, family court matters, small claims and bankruptcy cases are not currently covered by Law.com Radar. Additionally, Law.com Radar excludes certain non-commercial federal matters, such as social security claims and immigration cases. Where there is real-time electronic access to public court data, our data providers crawl courts multiple times each day and deliver information within minutes or hours of filing. In county courthouses without digital access, a team member visits the courthouse in person on a daily basis to retrieve case filings.
In all instances, Law.com Radar works with court clerks to efficiently retrieve new case filings and publishes case data as rapidly as possible once it is made publicly available. New Suit Alerts can be set up using a combination of practice areas, topics, courts, industry segments, parties and keywords. Users pick the frequency of alerts and can share alerts with up to 50 recipients.
Law.com Radar’s Daily Case Reports offer easy, one-click sign up for daily email alerts covering cases in an individual jurisdiction. Once saved, your New Suit Alerts and Daily Case Reports can be viewed and edited from the Manage Alerts screen.
Law.com Radar makes it easy to set up an alert that is delivered to a separate user or to a group of recipients. When activating a new alert, you can add up to 50 recipients and, if preferred, you can opt out of receiving the alert directly.
Yes, users can easily create a regional or multi-court alert by using the Create an Alert screen in the Settings menu. In the Courts section, select a state of interest and then select from available courts to join the courts in a single alert.
When creating an alert, users can enter parties and specify whether a new suit alert should trigger when the party appears as a plaintiff, as a defendant or in either role.
Keyword alerting is a powerful feature that allows you to set up alerts to trigger only when designated keywords or phrases appear in a lawsuit or to set up alerts that exclude keywords or phrases. Radar’s keyword alerting not only runs against case metadata but will parse all available text, including the text of complaints.
To search for specific content on Law.com Radar, you can click the Search icon in the navigation menu for a simple search or use the Advanced Search bar on the right side of the screen to conduct more precise or filtered searching. From the Advanced Search bar, you can search for updates by keyword, practice area, company, law firm, region and other criteria.
After conducting a search, you will see options to Create an Alert and Export Results based on your search.
After you perform a search on Law.com Radar, you can export a CSV file with your search results. You can also select the export option when you load results from the Manage Alerts screen. The export function makes it easier to store, sort, analyze and follow up on cases.
