As Iran’s nuclear negotiations continue to dominate headlines, the U.S. Supreme Court on Monday showed interest in another enduring dispute between Iran and this country.

The justices asked the solicitor general of the United States to weigh in on whether they should grant review in a multibillion-dollar legal fight between Bank Markazi, the central bank of Iran, and more than 1,300 Americans. The Americans—seven separate groups of plaintiffs—are victims or surviving family members of victims of terrorist attacks that they claim the government of Iran sponsored.
