Welcome to a special edition of The Supreme Court Brief. The Supreme Court will hand down its final rulings of the term tomorrow, Friday, June 30. The court has yet to rule on the legality of the Biden administration's student debt relief plan, which could affect the federal loan balances of up to 40 million Americans. We're also awaiting the court's decision in the case of a Christian website designer who says she has a First Amendment right to refuse to build custom wedding websites for same-sex couples.

In its penultimate opinion day of the term Thursday, the Supreme Court announced decisions in three cases involving the foreign reach of the Lanham Act, workplace religious accommodations and, finally, affirmative action in higher education.

In twin cases challenging the race-conscious admissions programs at the University of North Carolina and Harvard College, the court's conservative supermajority said the Constitution and civil rights law bars institutions of higher education from using racial preferences in the admissions process.
