Welcome to Supreme Court Brief. The nine justices return to the bench Tuesday for their final two days of arguments before the Feb. 8 showdown over former President Donald Trump's eligibility for office.

The court will hear four cases on Tuesday and Wednesday, including perhaps the most highly anticipated administrative law case of the 21st Century. The hearing, as discussed more below, will center on the validity of one of the Supreme Court's most frequently cited precedents — the 1984 decision Chevron USA v. Natural Resources Defense Council — the toppling of which would send shockwaves across the federal government.

But first, the court announced what could be their final "cert grants," or new cases, of the October 2023 term in an orders list released Friday afternoon. One of those is an appeal from Starbucks over a court order to reinstate "The Memphis Seven," seven fired workers at a Tennessee Starbucks location who were in a union organizing campaign and whom the company said violated various store policies.
