Welcome to Supreme Court Brief. An unusually busy midwinter "recess" comes to an end this week as the justices kick off their regular February argument session following the holiday weekend.

Much like the summer recess that wasn't, the court kept itself busy in the normally quiet weeks between the January and February argument sessions. Much of that had to do with the special Feb. 8 hearing called in the case Trump v. Anderson dealing with the Colorado challenge to former President Donald Trump's eligibility. The court used that rare session to announce two opinions in argued cases.

We are expecting to get one or more opinions Wednesday morning, although the court does not reveal ahead of time which ones. Will the court hand down a quick ruling in Trump v. Anderson to clarify Trump's eligibility for office before Super Tuesday?
