Wednesday served up another busy day at One First St NE, as the court again issued two rulings and heard oral arguments in a criminal appeal, which featured Justice Samuel Alito Jr.'s nightmare-fueled reference to a defendant "like Hannibal Lecter" who "hideously tortured 25 children." Yikes.

The subject of today's brief will focus on an aspect of the court's ruling Wednesday morning in Muldrow v. City of St. Louis, which involved the less horrifying, but nevertheless important, subject of discriminatory job transfers.
