Amid the anticipation surrounding the U.S. Supreme Court’s handling of the same-sex marriage issue, the court is proceeding with its usual docket of important, if less headline-grabbing, cases in the next two weeks.

In addition to Heien v. North Carolina, a Fourth Amendment case argued Monday, the justices are hearing eight oral arguments in its first argument cycle of the term, on issues ranging from prison policies on beards to a Fair Labor Standards Act dispute at an Amazon.com warehouse.
