June 29 marked the end of a blockbuster term for the U.S. Supreme Court. The court’s October 2014 term will long be remembered for high-profile decisions on health care and same-sex marriage. But 2014-15 also brought decisions on a host of vital issues affecting business.

Indeed, of the 75 merits decisions issued by the court, 27—or 36 percent—involved business-related issues. The court decided four bankruptcy cases, three employment discrimination cases, three patent cases, and two labor cases, as well as cases involving securities, antitrust, the environment, the False Claims Act, trademarks, the Administrative Procedure Act, Sarbanes-Oxley, the Fair Housing Act, the takings clause and health care, to name a few. Several of these decisions provide critical guidance for businesses operating in an ever changing marketplace.
