In 2008, Ted Frank was a plaintiff in a class action involving Grand Theft Auto videogames. Unhappy with the proposed settlement, he fought it in court.

A judge squashed the deal on other grounds, but the experience led Frank to start a nonprofit to litigate on behalf of plaintiffs in unfair class action settlements. At its conference on March 18, the U.S. Supreme Court will consider a cert petition that Frank’s Center for Class Action Fairness filed in a new case, Frank v. Poertner.
