The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday issued the first of what may be several 4-4 tied decisions triggered by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia last month.
The ruling in Hawkins v. Community Bank of Raymore was the typical one-sentence formulation the court uses in such instances: “The judgment is affirmed by an equally divided Court.”
