A case before the U.S. Supreme Court that posed a novel claim of gender discrimination in the military has been sidelined after the government initiated talks to settle the case.
Acting in Ortiz v. United States, the court on Monday granted a motion filed by both sides to “defer consideration” of the certiorari petition filed in the case in October. The petition was scheduled for consideration April 22.
