In its ruling Wednesday on an important copyright dispute over the design of cheerleader outfits, the U.S. Supreme Court decided words were not enough.
The court’s 47-page decision in Star Athletica v. Varsity Brands included four pages of colored drawings and photographs—three of them inserted by dissenting Justice Stephen Breyer—as well as 10 pages of reproduced copyright registration forms.
