The fee that a lawyer must pay to get approval for a new advertisement will go up in June after the State Bar of Texas board of directors approved the increase on Jan. 16.

The bar's Advertising Review Committee proposed the increase, which bumps the lawyer advertising review fee from $75 to $100. The Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct require attorneys to submit ads for review to the committee.

The fee proposal noted that the committee normally reviews 3,000 ads per year.
