Baker & McKenzie lawyers in Texas represented Baylor College of Medicine in a joint venture with Miraca Holdings Inc. in which the college and Miraca will jointly own and govern clinical genetics diagnostic laboratories.

Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom represented Miraca, a Japanese company, in the joint venture to form Baylor Miraca Genetics Laboratories, based in Houston. The joint venture deal closed on Feb. 2.

At Baker & McKenzie, partner William Davis of Houston led Baylor's team on the deal, with assistance from partners Susan Stone of Houston and Guy Birkenmeier of Dallas, and associates Maryam Tabatabai, Heath Trisdale and Matthew Mauney, all of Houston.
