One justice on the Thirteenth Court of Appeals wants to split the court to form a new intermediate appellate court, but his fellow justices oppose the idea.

During an April 21 public hearing on House Bill 2730, Thirteenth Court Justice Greg Perkes said he favored the idea, but Justice Gina Benavides said she and other Thirteenth Court justices “are all against this bill.”
