The House passed a bill recently that would make it easier to get on the ballot for the Texas Supreme Court, Texas Court of Criminal Appeals or a judicial bench in a highly populated county.
House Bill 3880 by Rep. Craig Goldman, R-Fort Worth, would repeal two provisions in the Texas Election Code that require some judicial candidates to gather signatures if they want a place on the primary election ballot. The bill would affect candidates for statewide benches and judicial candidates in counties with more than 1.5 million people.
