Bill Eases Burden for Post-Conviction DNA Testing

A bill that would make it easier for convicts to win appeals for post-conviction DNA testing on evidence has landed on Gov. Greg Abbott’s desk.

Senate Bill 487, by Sen. Rodney Ellis, D-Houston, would allow a convicted person to file a motion for DNA testing on evidence “that has a reasonable likelihood” of containing DNA.
