Three law students from Canada are the first graduates of the International Energy Lawyers Program (ILEP), a dual-degree program between the University of Houston Law Center and the University of Calgary law school.

The three Canadians who earned degrees from both law schools through the ILEP program, which was established in 2012, participated in the University of Houston Law Center convocation in May. They also earned law degrees from the University of Calgary.

One of the students, Barrett Schitka, is staying in Texas. He will start work this fall in the oil and gas transactions group at Latham & Watkins in Houston.
