A U.S. district judge lifted a stay on a previous order that barred the Texas government from enforcing its same-sex marriage ban, related provisions in the Texas Family Code and any other law that prohibited same-sex couples from marrying.

U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia of the Western District of Texas noted in his June 26 order lifting the stay in De Leon v. Perry that he made the move in light of the U.S. Supreme Court’s opinion in Obergefell v. Hodges.
