Lawyers who e-file in civil cases will notice higher bills in September, when the e-filing fee increases to $30 from $20.
That's just one of the changes in store on Sept. 1, the effective date of many bills that became law during the 2015 legislative session.
Civil lawyers must pay the fee when they e-file, among other things, petitions, counterclaims and interventions. One fee covers all e-filings for a case. The Texas Supreme Court has mandated that lawyers use e-filing in their civil cases.
