A lawyer’s belief in him as a client is one of the reasons Manuel Berrelez wanted to become an attorney.

His dream of going to Yale University might have been dashed if San Antonio attorney Manuel Montez had not believed that Berrelez was treated unfairly after a fight over his vandalized pickup truck. Berrelez, the star quarterback on his high school football team in the South Texas town of Pearsall, was destined to become salutatorian of his class and being recruited by Yale when he got into trouble. Berrelez’s family retained Montez, who listened to his story, believed him and resolved the problem.
