Lawyer Who Bribed Judge Resigns Law License
Convicted San Antonio attorney Alberto Acevedo Jr., who admitted to bribing a judge with car repairs in exchange for favorable rulings, has resigned his law license rather than facing attorney discipline.

Disgraced San Antonio attorney Alberto Acevedo Jr., who pleaded guilty and was convicted of bribing a judge for favorable rulings, has resigned his law license rather than face attorney discipline.
The Texas Supreme Court on Aug. 28 accepted Acevedo's motion to resign in lieu of discipline.
Acevedo was convicted of one count of theft or bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds. He was sentenced on July 15 to serve one year in prison and three years of supervised release.
