Kirkland Works on Energy Deal

Pearl Energy Investments of Dallas turned to Kirkland & Ellis as fund formation counsel for the Oct. 1 closing of Pearl Energy Investments, which reached a hard cap and closed with commitments of $500 million.

Pearl provides private equity capital and sponsorship to the energy industry, concentrating on investments of between $25 million and $75 million of equity capital in oil and gas production, midstream and services sectors.

The Kirkland team advising Pearl included private funds partners Sarah Kirson of Chicago and Matthew Dickman of San Francisco and associates Sojeong Hong and David Mashburn, both of San Francisco; tax partner Donald Rocap and associate Joel Peters-Fransen, both of Chicago; investment management partner Kevin Bettsteller of San Francisco and associate Matthew Cohen of Chicago; and employee benefits partner Laura Bader of Chicago.
