Cody Carper has joined the Houston office of Willkie Farr & Gallagher as a partner. An oil and gas attorney, Carper advises clients on a wide range of complex energy transactions, including the formation of joint ventures, drilling partnerships and other joint development arrangements as well as the acquisition and divestiture of upstream and midstream oil and gas assets and companies.
Phillip Sharp has joined Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell & Berkowitz as a shareholder in the firm's Houston office and member of its business litigation group. He has first-chair jury trial experience in cases ranging from breach of contract and fraud lawsuits to fiduciary cases to catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death claims.
Emily Leitch has joined Jones Day's Houston office as a partner and a member of the firm's capital markets practice. As part of her practice, Leitch handles complex transactions. She advises clients on capital markets activities, corporate governance securities law compliance, mergers and acquisitions and financial restructurings.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
