Finding that a former client of Houston lawyer Jason Gibson was “caught dead to rights” at fabricating evidence, a Harris County judge sanctioned him by striking his pleadings in a legal malpractice lawsuit he had filed against Gibson and his firm.

“During various appearances in this case, the court had inquired of the plaintiff about apparent deficiencies in proving up damages. It is therefore particularly noticeable and troublesome when plaintiff gets caught manufacturing evidence related to damages,” 55th District Judge Jeff Shadwick wrote in a June 5 order granting an April 30 motion for sanctions filed by Gibson and Gibson Law Firm.

In the order, Shadwick directed Gibson to prepare a final judgment dismissing all of plaintiff Joseph Pressil's claims in Pressil v. Gibson, and awarding costs of court to the defendants. He did not impose sanctions on Kassab Law Firm of Houston, which represents Pressil in the malpractice suit against Gibson and his firm.
