Spencer Fane, which added a new Texas office in Plano earlier this year, has added four more lateral hires to its Texas offices, including three who came from Strasburger & Price, which merged last week with Detroit-based Clark Hill.

Kevin Maguire and Kasia Brozynski joined the firm's Dallas office as partners, and Antonio Devora joined as of counsel. All three came from Strasburger & Price, now Clark Hill Strasburger. Bart Dalton, who came from Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton, joined the Spencer Fane Plano office in March, the firm said.

Brozynski and Devora are registered patent attorneys who do a wide range of intellectual property work, and Dalton and Maguire are litigators. None of the lateral hires could immediately be reached for comment.

Jason Cross, managing partner of the Dallas office, said the lawyers bring talent and experience to the Texas offices that will help the firm service existing and new clients. “They continue our momentum here as we continue to grow,” he said.

In January, Spencer Fane expanded in Texas with a new office in Plano, located 20 miles north of its Dallas office. The Kansas City-based firm opened an office in Dallas in 2016. With the lateral hires, Spencer Fane now has 12 lawyers in Texas.

Dan Butcher, who was managing partner of Strasburger & Price before the merger and now is a member of the executive committee at Clark Hill, said in a statement that lawyers often re-evaluate what's best for their own practices when mergers occur.

“Clearly this team felt that a different platform was a better fit for them, and we wish them all the best,” he said. “We are focusing on and are excited about the enhanced service capabilities we can now offer our clients as Clark Hill and Clark Hill Strasburger.”
