When it comes to determining custody issues in divorce or separation cases, the courts encourage involvement by both parents and normally implement a geographic restriction in which the children are required to live in relatively close proximity to both parents. This arrangement allows each parent to see their children on a regular basis, attend school activities, extracurricular events, and to spend frequent time with the children.

With our global and fast-changing economy, parents are often required to make tough career choices that may require out-of-state relocation. It is not always easy to turn down a job promotion or a transfer, but the benefits of career stability and increased income often come with difficult tradeoffs regarding custody and visitation.
