A vehicle-odor elimination startup company has brought on a new top lawyer.

NuVinAir announced Kathryn Shilling as the Dallas-based company's new general counsel. In her new role, Shilling is responsible for providing legal expertise on company strategies and their implementation, negotiating contracts and overseeing complex business transactions and outside counsel, according to a statement announcing her hire.

Prior to joining NuVinAir, Shilling founded Shilling Law Group, where she served as outside GC to several businesses throughout Texas and Oklahoma in both trial and appellate work. Her prior appellate-work experience includes a clerkship with the Texas Fifth District Court of Appeals in Dallas and a role as staff attorney for the state Second District Court of Appeals in Fort Worth.

Shilling, who is NuVinAir's first GC, could not immediately be reached for comment but described the company in the statement as “truly blazing a trail in the automotive industry.”

“Leveraging what I've gleaned over my 25-year career at both the state and federal level, I can begin implementing best practices for continued growth, both domestically, and soon, internationally,” she added.

According to the statement, NuVinAir, which offers patented technology for odor elimination to car dealerships, car washes, detail shops, rental-car companies and truck fleets, experienced a 5,000 percent growth over the last year.

“With a successful, decadeslong career spanning automotive, transportation, and other relevant verticals, Kathryn's expertise is essential at this stage of our growth, especially as we scale into international markets,” NuVinAir CEO and founder Kyle Bailey said in the statement.

Shilling earned her degree from The University of Tulsa College of Law.
