Vinson & Elkins has expanded its project finance capabilities in New York, hiring a partner with cross-border transactions experience from Linklaters in New York.

Eamon Nolan, who joined V&E as a partner on Monday, said he was attracted to the firm's presence in the energy and infrastructure space, its international network of offices and the caliber of the firm's transactional work. “There are few names out there as active as V&E,” he said.

Nolan, who was a partner at Linklaters, said he knew quite a bit about the firm because of his long friendship with V&E partner Mark Brasher, an energy transactions and projects partner in Houston. They both formerly worked at MinterEllison in Melbourne, Australia.

Scott Wulfe, V&E's managing partner, wrote in a press release that Nolan is a perfect fit for the firm's growing project finance practice.

“Eamon's broad international experience and exceptional transactional skills will benefit the firm's clients in New York, Latin America and beyond,” Wulfe wrote.

Kaam Sahely, a partner in Houston and co-head of the firm's energy transactions and projects group, said in the release that the firm is focused on growing that practice in New York and globally.

“We know Eamon well, having worked across the table from him many times,” Sahely added.

Nolan represents financial institutions, equity sponsors and companies in project finance and other financial transactions. He has done work in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina and elsewhere, and is fluent in Spanish. He said his clients include Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets, as well as IFM.

Nolan said many of the biggest V&E clients are working on “fantastic deals in lots of jurisdictions,” and he believes he can grow the firm's practice.

Asked for a comment on Nolan's departure, Linklaters said in a statement: “We wish Eamon well in his new endeavor.”
