Harvey Brown, a former justice on the First Court of Appeals, has joined The Lanier Law Firm in Houston, where he is a member of the firm's issues and appeals practice group. Brown served on the appellate bench from 2010-2018 and previously presided over the 152nd District Court in Harris County for six years. He also served on the multidistrict litigation panel for Texas.

Heidi D. Lewis has been named executive vice president, general counsel and secretary at Target Lodging in The Woodlands. Hers is a new position in the company, Target Logistics Management. Lewis will lead the company's legal, compliance, human resources, safety and corporate secretary functions. She previously was vice president, group general counsel and assistant secretary at Dynegy Inc., now called Vistra Energy Group.

Ahmad, Zavitsanos, Anaipakos, Alavi & Mensing in Houston has announced the promotion of four of its attorneys to partners, effective Jan. 28. Scott W. Clark is a registered patent attorney with more than 15 years of experience representing clients in all aspects of intellectual property. Ryan Hackney handles primarily complex commercial litigation cases. Michael McBride is an IP attorney who focuses on patent litigation and prosecution. Jane Langdell Robinson is an appellate attorney.

Baker Botts has promoted nine lawyers to special counsel, including three based in Texas. Patrick Matthews has been promoted in the Dallas office. He represents and counsels owners and investors in a wide range of commercial real estate transactions throughout the United States. Those promoted in Houston are Krisa Benskin, who advises counsel with respect to the design and implementation of employee benefit plans and compensation arrangements, and Richard Ramirez, who handles all aspects of estate planning and estate administration for high net worth individuals, among other matters.

Dallas-based Caldwell Cassady & Curry has promoted Chris Stewart and John Summers to the position of principal in the firm. Both Stewart and Summers joined Caldwell Cassady & Curry in 2013 and, like all attorneys at the firm, focus on cases involving significant business disputes and intellectual property claims.

Jessica Anderson, formerly a paralegal in the Dallas and Frisco offices of Orsinger, Nelson, Downing & Anderson, has joined the firm as an associate. She will guide clients in matters involving divorce, modification, enforcement and child custody and help navigate the transitional phase of divorce.
