Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld has unveiled a virtual reality tour of its Dallas and New York offices aimed at giving recruits and law students a feel for what it's like to work for the firm.

Current Akin Gump attorneys act as guides for viewers as they go through the office. While anybody interested in the tour could find it online, the firm will take its show on the road and bring virtual reality goggles to law school recruiting events.

“Essentially what we set out to do is to find innovative ways to share information about of our firm,” said David Botter, Akin Gump's firmwide hiring partner. “Recruiters tell us the websites provide recruits with a lot of information but it's often repetitive between firms. Many are left with questions like, 'How do people present themselves? What do the offices look like?' ”

For example, the New York tour begins outside of the subway station in front of the firm's Manhattan office, surrounded by other attorneys. Walking in, you're greeted by Akin Gump chairperson Kim Koopersmith.

“We are always looking for the best and brightest students who share our commitment to excellence and value our unique culture,” she says in the video.

Stops include an inclusion council meeting (featuring a plug for the firm's diversity scholarship), partner and associate offices, an associate committee meeting and a pro bono committee meeting. All the clips are geared toward younger attorneys and feature cameos from Akin Gump attorneys such as corporate partner Jeff Kochian and New York managing partner Trey Muldrow.
