Austin’s Third Court of Appeals on Tuesday rejected an appeal by an Austin attorney who argued that a state district judge was constitutionally disqualified from her case for allegedly accepting bribes from her opponent and his lawyers.

Solo practitioner Brandi Stokes, who represents herself pro se in a child custody dispute with her ex-husband, is separately facing an attorney discipline lawsuit for accusations she made when seeking disqualification of opposing counsel. There, she claimed one of her relatives had raped opposing counsel’s mother and he was related to Stokes.
