New Partner
Reed Smith announced that Chauncey M. Lane has joined the firm as a partner in its global corporate group in the firm's Dallas office. Lane was formerly a partner in the Dallas office of Husch Blackwell, and before that was an attorney for the Securities and Exchange Commission. Lane regularly advises domestic and international clients on buy- and sell-side mergers, divestitures, asset acquisitions, going-private transactions, debt and equity offerings and corporate governance. His experience working in the Division of Corporation Finance of the SEC has made him a trusted adviser on SEC compliance and reporting matters. A 2012 LL.M. graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, Lane earned both his J.D. and M.B.A. from Texas Tech University in 2009. In addition, Lane, a U.S. Army veteran, has a passion for helping his fellow veterans. He currently has several pro bono cases pending on their behalf against the U.S. Department of the Army. "I was excited at the prospect of joining a firm planting a flag in Dallas and I look forward to helping build out the office and establishing Reed Smith's stellar reputation in the city where I was born and raised," Lane said in a statement released by the firm.
|New Member in Dallas Office
Frost Brown Todd welcomed Thomas Allen as the newest member of its Dallas office as of Sept. 30. Allen, who brings more than 19 years of experience in complex civil and appellate litigation, represents the latest step in Frost Brown's rapid growth in the Dallas market. He represents clients across multiple industries, with a recent focus on transportation and health-care. Allen is a graduate of Harvard Law School and Yale University, and a former partner at Jones Day. In 2017, he received an "Impact Award" from the Poverty Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. He also serves on the board of directors for the Dallas Zoo. He is a former partner at Jones Day.
|New Partner Joins Austin Firm
Hunton Andrews Kurth announced the expansion of its national public finance practice with the addition of Darren C. McHugh. A veteran tax and public finance lawyer, McHugh has joined the firm as a partner in its Austin office. He has tax law experience as it relates to public finance transactions, including governmental, 501(c)(3), housing and health care bonds. He also advises clients regarding the structuring process and tax requirements associated with tax-exempt transactions. McHugh received his undergraduate degree from the University of Northern Colorado, a master's in accountancy from the Metropolitan State University of Denver, and his law degree from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
|New Partner Joins Firm
Phyllis Young, a transactional lawyer who advises public and private companies, commercial banks and investment funds in financing transactions and has energy industry experience, joined McGuireWoods' debt finance practice as a partner in the firm's Dallas and Houston offices. Young advises lenders and borrowers in debt financing and counsels clients on mergers and acquisitions, restructurings and other corporate matters. She has served as outside general counsel to clients in the oil refining and drilling sectors and the steel distribution industry. She joins McGuireWoods from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld. Young is a member of the Institute for Energy Law. Among her many honors, she received the Premier Women in Law Award from the Houston Association of Women Attorneys in 2019, and was named to the National Diversity Council's top 50 Women in Law in 2017. "McGuireWoods has built a powerhouse finance practice and a reputation for providing comprehensive, integrated services to financial institution clients," Young said in a statement. "I am excited to join this world-class team."
|Two New Shareholders Elected at Dallas Firm
Polsinelli announced the election of two attorneys to shareholder in the firm's Dallas office, effective Nov. 1. Alexis L. Angell is a member of the firm's health care litigation and disputes practice group. She earned her J.D. from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University. Caitlin J. Morgan is a member of the firm's commercial litigation practice group. She earned her J.D. from Albany Law School.
|Four Associates Join Houston Firm's Construction Practice Group
Bradley Arant Boult Cummings is pleased to announce that Melissa Broussard Carroll, Rebecca A. Muff, Saira S. Siddiqui and Sydney M. Warren have joined the firm's Houston office as associates in the construction practice group.
Carroll has represented business clients in a wide range of commercial and consumer financial services litigation matters in state and federal court. Prior to joining Bradley, she was an associate at alliantgroup LP. She received her J.D. from Loyola University of New Orleans College of Law. She also holds two bachelor's degrees from Southern Methodist University.
Muff focuses her practice on complex litigation related to construction, commercial and fiduciary matters, including breach of contract, bad-faith, breach of fiduciary duties, and fraud. Prior to joining Bradley, Muff was an associate at Diamond McCarthy. She received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. She also holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts from Texas A&M University.
Siddiqui concentrates her practice on defending claims for premises liability and construction defect matters. Prior to joining the firm, Siddiqui was an associate at Thompson, Coe, Cousins & Irons. She received her J.D. from South Texas College of Law and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Houston.
Warren focuses her practice on broad-based commercial litigation, including construction defect, employment law, trade secret misappropriation, copyright and trademark infringement, negligence, contracts, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, DMCA, insurance defense, subrogation, premises liability and DTPA matters. Prior to joining Bradley, Warren was an associate at Kane Russell Coleman Logan. She received her J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center and her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Houston.
|Associate Joins Fort Worth Firm
Brooke Hubbard has joined Cantey Hanger in Fort Worth as an associate in the litigation section. She will handle commercial litigation and complex family law matters. Hubbard has been a Tarrant County assistant criminal district attorney in the Misdemeanor Division since 2017, managing a caseload of more than 1,000 incidents. Hubbard was on scholarship and the Dean's List at Texas A&M University School of Law. She graduated in May 2017 and was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in November 2017. During law school, Hubbard worked as a land analyst for XTO Energy. She is a 2012 graduate of Texas Christian University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance. She is a member of the Tarrant County Bar Association and the Tarrant County Young Lawyers Association.
|Two Associates Join Austin Firm
Stephen Burbank has joined Scott Douglass & McConnico's trial practice in Austin as an associate. His background in land and mineral interest issues, combined with his time spent as a federal judicial law clerk to Judge Alan Albright give him valuable perspective in practicing law. Ross Sutherland has also joined Scott Douglass' trial practice in Austin as an associate. He began his career as an entrepreneur servicing South Texas oil-field companies and brings that experience to his legal practice focused in the oil and gas industry.
