Shareholder Wins M&A Magazine Award
Chamberlain Hrdlicka in Houston has announced that shareholder Amy Moss was named among The M&A Advisor's 18th annual M&A Advisor Award winners for her leadership in the acquisition of Garvin Industries Inc. by Southwire Co. The matter was selected by the publication as the M&A Deal of the Year in the $25 million to $50 million category at an awards dinner held Nov. 19 in New York City. Additionally, Moss was named as a finalist in the following categories: Industrials Deal of the Year ($10 million to $50 million); and Corporate/ Strategic Deal of the Year ($25 million to $50 million).
"Since 2002, we have been honoring the leading M&A transactions, companies and dealmakers. Chamberlain Hrdlicka was chosen from over 500 participating companies to receive the award." said Roger Aguinaldo, founder of The M&A Advisor, in a statement. "Chamberlain Hrdlicka represents the best of the M&A industry in 2019 and earned these honors by standing out in a group of very impressive candidates."
Moss counsels public and private companies in a broad spectrum of corporate transactions, with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, private placements and public offerings. Her clients include venture capitalists, private equity funds, entrepreneurs, startups and emerging technology companies. She earned her undergraduate degree from Arizona State University and her law degree from the Vanderbilt School of Law.

|Houston Firm Elects New Partner
Beck Redden announced that Marcos Rosales has been elected to the partnership of the firm. He is a 2005 graduate of Texas A&M University and a 2010 graduate of Stanford Law School and Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government. He represents individuals and businesses in all types of complex civil litigation, with a particular emphasis on professional negligence matters, shareholder and securities disputes, fiduciary liability, and oil and gas matters. Having previously served as senior vice president and general counsel of a diversified holding company with operations in numerous industries, Rosales combines a breadth of real-world business experience with his engineering training and attention to detail to deliver results in any dispute. He is a director of the Texas Young Lawyers Association and a member of the Houston Bar Association, Houston Young Lawyers Association, and the American Bar Association. He also serves on the Leadership Council of Texas A&M University's Association of Former Students, and as the Houston chapter chair for the Stanford Law School Alumni Association.
|New Partner at Houston Firm
Smyser Kaplan & Veselka announced the addition of the newest partner in Houston, Crystal Robles, effective Jan. 1. Robles joined Smyser Kaplan as an associate in 2015 and focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation disputes, with recent experience in the health care, oil and gas, and financial services industries. She also has experience in managing various aspects of complex multidistrict litigation. Robles has achieved victory for her clients in state and federal court, securing dismissals, summary judgments, and negotiating favorable resolutions for both defendants and plaintiffs alike. Robles received her B.A. from New York University in 2009 and her J.D. from Yale Law School in 2012. While in law school, Robles did clinical work in the Worker & Immigrant Rights Advocacy and Immigrant Legal Services Clinics, contributing to significant victories for civil rights plaintiffs in federal court, for clients in immigration proceedings, and for asylees seeking family reunification. After law school, she practiced in the Houston office of Vinson & Elkins. She clerked for Judge Joseph A. Greenaway Jr. on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in 2014- 2015.
|IP & Technology Litigation Counsel Joins Houston Office
Am Law 100 firm Polsinelli has continued to add to its growing Houston presence with the addition of counsel LaTasha "Tasha" Snipes, who joins the firm's intellectual property and technology litigation practice. Snipes is an experienced litigator for a wide array of intellectual property (IP) matters, including patent, trademark, trade secret and copyright litigation. She also assists clients with technology transactions, commercialization strategies for their IP, and privacy issues. She has experience with patent matters across a wide range of technologies, including smart home technology, software, computer hardware, advanced systems for aircraft and oilfield technology. She has litigated patent infringement matters and other IP disputes throughout the United States, including key patent jurisdictions, such as the Southern District of Texas, the Eastern District of Texas and the District of Delaware. Snipes completed her J.D. at the University of Houston Law Center and earned her B.S. in electrical engineering at Iowa State University. She is a member of the Houston Intellectual Property Association and The Honorable Nancy F. Atlas Intellectual Property American Inn of Court.
|Firm Opens Law Office in Waxahachie
The law firm of Keathley & Keathley has opened an office in Waxahachie to serve its clients in Ellis County. The Corsicana-based law firm opened in 1999 and has been serving clients in Navarro, Ellis and surrounding counties. "We have worked for great people from Ellis county and want to bring our client-focused style of legal representation to Ellis County more permanently," said firm partner Steve Keathley. "By having an office across the street from the Ellis County Courthouse, our clients will not have to drive to Corsicana to meet with attorneys." The new office is located at 112 E. Main St., Suite No. 1, in Waxahachie, Texas. The firm's law practice includes criminal, civil and family law attorneys. Steve Keathley served as the district attorney for Navarro County from 2002 to 2007 before returning to private practice. Sarah Keathley, former director of the State Bar of Texas, currently serves on the Texas Family Law Council, is a credentialed mediator, and practices collaborative law.
|New Associate
The Strong Firm, based in The Woodlands, Texas, announced that Cody Schlegel has been named as an associate attorney with the business law firm. Schlegel has served clerkships with the firm in the summers of 2018 and 2019. He obtained his bachelor's degree in energy management from The University of Oklahoma and attended graduate school at The University of Tulsa, where he earned his J.D./M.B.A. in just three years, along with a sustainable energy and resources law certificate. While a student at The University of Tulsa, Schlegel also clerked in-house for upstream and midstream companies and served as the executive articles editor of the Energy Bar Association's Energy Law Journal, where his article was published in 2018. He recently passed the bar exam to practice law in the state of Texas. As a native of The Woodlands community, Schlegel is a graduate of The Woodlands High School. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
