It's election season, and Texas Lawyer is publishing Q&As with candidates in contested races for district and appellate court benches in the Lone Star State. Early voting runs from Feb. 18 to Feb. 28, and election day is March 3.

Here are candidates running in the contested primary race for Fort Bend County's 387th District Court.


387th District Court

In the Democratic Primary, Janet Buening Heppard, professor and clinical education director at the University of Houston Law Center, and Richmond family law attorney Jamie Zand are competing in the race for the 387th District Court in Richmond. Whoever wins will compete in the November general election against incumbent Judge Brenda Mullinix, who is unopposed in the Republican Primary.
