With Primary Over, Many Candidates for Judge in Austin Have Just Won Election
Two races ended in upsets for male incumbent judges who were ousted by female Democratic challengers. The judges who are off the bench are 167th District Judge David Wahlberg and 345th District Judge Tim Sulak.

With a dearth of Republican candidates running for judge in Travis County, the Democratic primary election has decided many district court races well ahead of the November elections.
Two races ended in upsets for male incumbent judges who were ousted by female Democratic challengers. The judges who are off the bench are 167th District Judge David Wahlberg and 345th District Judge Tim Sulak.
Here are the results of the rest of Austin's judicial races, according to the Texas Secretary of State's Office.

Democratic primary results:
- Byrne – 73%
- Keith S. Hampton – 27%

Travis County District Courts
53rd District Court
By winning the Democratic primary, Maria Cantú Hexsel has won election for this bench, as there is no Republican running for the seat in November.
Democratic primary results:
- Hexsel – 57%
- Kennon Wooten – 43%
98th District Court
Incumbent Democratic Judge Rhonda Hurley has won another term. She was unopposed in her primary, and there is no Republican candidate challenging her in November.
126th District Court
Democratic candidate Aurora Martinez Jones, who was unopposed in her primary, has won this seat, as there is no Republican running against her in November.
167th District Court
After beating an incumbent judge in the Democratic primary, Dayna Blazey has won election to this bench, as there is no Republican candidate running in November.
Democratic primary results:
- Blazey – 57%
- Wahlberg – 43%
200th District Court
Jessica Mangrum has won the Democratic primary for this bench, and it means she has won election, because no one is running as a Republican in November.
Democratic primary results:
- Mangrum – 53%
- Maggie Ellis – 47%
345th District Court
Incumbent Judge Jan Soifer has won reelection. She was unopposed in the Democratic primary, and faces no candidate on the Republican side in the November general election.
353rd District Court
Madeleine Connor has won election to this bench after winning the Democratic primary and ousting a male incumbent judge. There is no candidate running on the Republican side in November.
Democratic primary results;
- Connor – 51%
- Sulak – 49%
390th District Court
Incumbent Judge Julie Kocurek has won reelection after winning the Democratic primary by a landslide. There is no Republican candidate running against her in November.
Democratic primary results:
- Kocurek – 87%
- Albert Amado – 13%
427th District Court
Incumbent Judge Tamara Needles has won reelection to her bench. She was unopposed in the Democratic primary and does not face a Republican opponent in November.
450th District Court
Judge Brad Urrutia has won another term in office. He didn't face a Democratic challenger in his primary and also has no Republican opponent in November.
460th District Court
Incumbent Judge Geoffrey Puryear will be the Republican candidate after running unopposed in his primary, and will face off in November against Democratic Primary winner Selena Alvarenga.
Democratic primary results:
- Alvarenga – 60%
- Amy Meredith – 40%

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The case, assigned to U.S. District Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton, is 1:24-cv-12522, Austen v. Cohen et al.

The action, filed Oct. 7 in New York Southern District Court by the Brown Law Firm, accuses the company's directors and/or officers of falsely expressing confidence in the company’s restructuring of its sales incentive plan and downplaying the severity of decreases in its upfront commitments.
