In a move toward indoctrinating younger partners into the firm's top leadership, a Dallas-based boutique has brought on a new name partner to replace a recent departure, becoming Lynn Pinker Hurst & Schwegmann.

Chris Schwegmann is now a name partner at the trial firm following Trey Cox's move to Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher last week.

The 40-lawyer boutique announced the name change on Tuesday. The firm had been Lynn Pinker Cox & Hurst until last week.

Firm founder Mike Lynn said it was a natural progression to make Schwegmann a name partner because he's not only a "phenomenal lawyer with a huge client base," but has also taken on a lot of responsibility at the firm.

Schwegmann, who joined the firm in 2005 after a stint at Cravath, Swaine & Moore, is the firm's general counsel, and formerly served as its "selecting partner," a role known at other firms as a hiring partner.

At 45, Schwegmann is the youngest name partner at the firm, Lynn notes, as it begins to transition to second-generation leadership. But he said managing partner Eric Pinker is not much older than Schwegmann.

"It's a dream job, and I'm honored to have my name on the door," Schwegmann said in a press release.

Lynn said Schwegmann has done work for GE and Mary Kay, and is currently handling a number of intellectual property disputes. He tries trademark and copyright infringement, false advertising, antitrust, and other business litigation.
