Houston-Based Firm Adds Attorney in New York City
Houston-based Bracewell announced that Danielle Garbien, a leading lawyer in the renewable energy finance and transactional space, has joined the firm's power practice as a partner in the New York office, strengthening the firm's capabilities in addressing the growing renewable energy market. Garbien was previously with Sidley Austin. Garbien represents energy and commodities companies, financial institutions, private equity companies and hedge funds in a wide range of complex energy financing, investments, and commodity and hedging transactions, with a focus on power and renewable energy. She advises on structuring hedges for the financing and acquisition of energy facilities; renewable energy transactions, including solar and wind development and offtake arrangements; total return swaps to pass-through risks from seller to buyer; long-term supply and credit facilities for retail and wholesale energy contracts; prepaid natural gas and electricity transactions; and long-term natural gas cross-border supply arrangements with related credit support obligations. Garbien earned her B.A. in economics and political science from Boston College and her J.D. from American University, Washington College of Law. "Bracewell is a recognized leader across the energy sector. I'm excited to join a growing team and work with my new colleagues in continuing to provide value to our clients," said Garbien, in a statement by the firm.

Dallas Associate Earns Health Law Board Certification
Stephen Angelette, a Dallas-based associate in the health care alignment and organization practice at Polsinelli, recently earned his board certification in health law from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization (TBLS). According to the TBLS, as of today, there are only 73 board-certified health law lawyers in Texas. Angelette applies his unique understanding of health care issues toward hospitals, physician groups, and other health care professionals seeking counsel. He has experience with structuring health care arrangements, including equity and asset purchases of hospitals, home health agencies, hospices, laboratories and urgent care centers, and has represented numerous health care providers in establishing clinically integrated networks and accountable care organizations. Angelette obtained his J.D. from Saint Louis University School of Law, including a certificate in health law, and completed his B.A. at the University of Arkansas. "As a firm, the health care industry has always been a major focus of ours," said Jane Arnold, chair of Polsinelli's health care alignment and organization practice, in a statement by the firm. Attorney Joins Firm's Plano Office

Labor & Employment Litigator Joins Dallas Office as Of Counsel
Phillips Murrah has announced that Michele C. Spillman has joined the firm in its Dallas-based office as of counsel. Her addition to the firm brings the number of Phillips Murrah attorneys serving the Texas market to 14. With a background in both labor and employment law and commercial litigation, Spillman represents employers in a wide variety of industries, providing advice and counsel on federal and state employment laws regarding discrimination, harassment, retaliation, medical leave requests and accommodations, and wage-and-hour issues. She also assists employers with human resources matters, including employment policies, handbooks, severance agreements, noncompetition matters, and internal investigations into alleged violations of various employment laws. Spillman is a member of the Texas Bar Association, the Dallas Bar Association and Attorneys Serving the Community.
Health Care Partner Joins Austin Office
Perkins Coie announced that Zubin Khambatta has joined the firm's health care industry group as a partner in the Austin office. Zubin is the latest addition to the newly opened Austin office, highlighting Perkins Coie's continued growth and expansion in Texas. Zubin joins a team of three other new partners who have already joined the Austin office since its opening in the past month. He will also help strengthen the health care-related focus of the firm's technology transactions and privacy practice in the Dallas office and partner with the Dallas-based health-care innovations and privacy practice. Zubin represents clients in reimbursement related matters that involve counseling and advisory services, litigation, representation before state regulatory bodies, OIG or other government investigations, and structuring complex contractual arrangements with governmental and commercial payers. Zubin received his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School, his M.S. from the University of Edinburgh and his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
