Houston attorney Drew Tipton is one step closer to becoming a judge of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas in Corpus Christi.
The U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday voted to advance his nomination to the full Senate for a final vote.
If confirmed, Tipton would fill the Lone Star State's last vacancy on the federal bench. The Senate has already confirmed 20 of President Donald Trump's judicial nominations.
