On Saturday night, July 25, the life of Justice David Lee Bridges was snuffed out when someone drove in the wrong direction on Interstate 30 east of Dallas and slammed head-on into David’s truck. David didn’t have a chance. We all wish time could be reclaimed and the holocaust of fire from the collision could have been avoided. But that wish can’t come true.  From what we, his friends and colleagues, have learned, he was traveling home from a campaign reception. He was very close to being home. We are shocked, stunned, and heartbroken. It was senseless. Tragic is an insufficient word.

Others have already said something like this about David: Justice David Lee Bridges was a thoughtful, reasonable gentleman. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and esteemed jurist. To add other words to that description of David would be inadequate. How can any of his friends and colleagues say anything other than, “David, you were tops. We miss you and our hearts cry for your family.”
