The race for the 164th District Court in Houston is between Democrat Cheryl Elliott Thornton and Republican Michael Landrum.
The race was created after the Democratic primary, when Thornton ousted incumbent Judge Alexandra Smoots-Thomas, who pleaded guilty in a case that alleged she misused campaign contributions for personal expenses.
