Judge David Junkin of the 453rd District Court in San Marcos is competing for his bench against Democratic challenger Sherri Tibbe.

Junkin said that voters should pick him because he has civil, family and criminal law experience, which is needed on a general jurisdiction bench that hears all case types. But Tibbe said that with her experience as a criminal defense attorney and then the Hays County district attorney, she learned to handle high caseloads and be fair to all litigants.
