The race for the 400th District Court in Richmond pits incumbent Judge Maggie Jaramillo, a Republican, against Democratic challenger Tameika Carter.
Carter said her opponent is a nice woman but represents the old way of doing things in Fort Bend County, while Carter would follow the law, be efficient and treat everyone fairly.
