The criminal allegations against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton are shocking, partly because of who made them, said a former executive for two previous state attorney general administrations.

Allegations like this are unprecedented in the memory of Austin attorney Casey Hoffman, who supervised 3,000 employees as an executive first assistant attorney general in 2007 under then-AG Greg Abbott, a Republican. Hoffman also worked in the 1980s under then-AG Jim Mattox, a Democrat.
