As the Senate confirmation process swings into full force for U.S. Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett, Texans are divided about whether it should be happening at all.

As might be expected, the division is split right among party lines, with 79% of Republicans feeling the Senate should confirm Barrett before the November election, but 71% of Democrats saying the presidential election winner should appoint the new justice to replace deceased Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, according to a public opinion poll by the Austin-based Crosswind Media & Public Relations.
